SANGIOVESEBlack grape Cultivar, grown mainly in Abruzzo (which produces Montepulciano d'Abruzzo), Marche, Umbria, Puglia. It is one of the most important grapes in central Italy with the Sangiovese. Perhaps the native land of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo (the name in full) is Torre de Passeri (PE). The name "Montepulciano" is the "residue" of a secular confusion between this grape, Sangiovese and Prugnolo kind, grapes that is the basis of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The character with the increased spread of Tuscan grape, is the confusion between it and grape Abruzzo. Only in 1875 was documenting an exact description of this ampelographic. Montepulciano, along with Sangiovese, represents the best tradition "red" in central Italy. Montepulciano has a bunch of average size and compactness, almost always winged, pyramid-shaped or conical. It ripens in advanced age (usually the first weeks of October).

SANGIOVESESangiovese (with Barbera) is one of Italy's most popular grape varieties (cultivated areas cover l `11% of the national area under vines); Romagna is grown by up to Campania and is traditionally the most popular grape in Tuscany. Sign in a blend of hundreds of wines, among them some of the most prestigious Italian wines: Chianti and Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Sagrantino di Montefalco and many other lesser-known but equally valid, which Morellino di Scansano and Sangiovese Romagna. It probably originated in Tuscany (if known since Etruscan times around at the eighth century BC), whose name may derive from "Blood of Jupiter", a witness of old link between wine and divinity.
